Psst… it’s interactive. J K to move, E to archive, and the pills up top switch layout and theme.

Reads mail fromGmailiCloudFastmailany IMAP server

Everything in its place, and nothing sent anywhere.

Two layouts, one inbox

Immersive puts the list and reader side by side. Correspondents (Pro) ranks the people waiting on you, longest first, and groups the broadcasts at the bottom.

Rust sync engine

Accounts sync in parallel, so one slow server never holds up the rest.

Stays on your Mac

Mail lives in SQLite on your disk and passwords in the Keychain. Remote images are blocked and tracking pixels stripped.

Keyboard triage

J and K to move, E to archive, H to snooze, and ⌘K for the command palette.

Snooze and to-dos

Put a thread away until Monday at 09:00 and it returns by itself. Keep a short list of to-dos next to your mail.

Four themes

Daylight is free. Dusk and Night are dark, Overcast is a cool light, and all three are Pro.

Any IMAP account

Gmail, iCloud, Fastmail or your own server. If it speaks IMAP and SMTP, Orlo reads it.

No AI, ever

No summaries, no model reading your mail, no writing replies for you. The ranking is worked out from who wrote last and when.

Two layouts,four themes.

Choose the shape of the window and the light it sits in. They are separate settings, and switching never moves your mail.

Immersive

Free

A floating rail, the message list and the reader side by side, with the actions in a pill over the message.

Correspondents

Pro

Everyone who wrote, ranked by who has waited longest. Pick a person and work through their backlog, oldest first.

Daylight Free

Light, neutral white

Dusk Pro

Dark, green lacquer

Night Pro

Dark, neutral charcoal

Overcast Pro

Light, cool steel

What Pro adds, and what stays free.

One account, the Immersive layout, the Daylight theme, search, snooze, to-dos and keyboard triage cost nothing. Pro is for everything beyond that.

Unlimited accounts

Free keeps one account active. Pro adds as many IMAP and SMTP accounts as you have.

Unified inbox

Every account in one list, each one keeping its own colour.

Correspondents layout

People as the spine of the window. Clear forty newsletters from one sender in a keystroke.

Dusk, Night, Overcast

Three more themes, two dark and one cool light, each one checked for contrast.

Custom shortcuts

Rebind the keys to match the way you already work.

VIP senders

Flag the people who matter and filter the inbox down to them.

More reply templates

Insert reusable phrases into a reply with Control and a number.

Questionsworth asking.

Where does my mail actually live?
In a SQLite file inside your Mac’s Application Support folder, and in your provider’s mailbox. Orlo has no server of its own, so there is no third copy. Account passwords and tokens are stored in the macOS Keychain.
Is there any AI in Orlo?
No — not for summaries, not for sorting, not for writing replies. The Correspondents ranking is worked out from stored facts: who sent the last message and when it arrived. Nothing is inferred and nothing is sent to a model.
Does it work with Gmail, Fastmail and iCloud?
Yes. Orlo speaks IMAP and SMTP, so any provider that does will work. Gmail accounts need an App Password with two-factor authentication turned on.
Which version of macOS do I need?
macOS 14 or later, on Apple silicon or Intel. Orlo uses the newer glass materials when it finds them on macOS 26 and falls back to solid surfaces everywhere else, including when Reduce Transparency is on.
What happens if I stop paying for Pro?
Nothing is deleted. Orlo returns to the Immersive layout and the Daylight theme, and you pick which account stays active. The others are greyed out, with their mail still on disk, until you subscribe again.
